I think it’s safe to say that I get asked this question on most days. Being diagnosed with a food sensitivity can be pretty devastating, especially when it’s a food you love. It usually means that a huge dietary overhaul is needed because the foods we are most sensitive to tend the be the foods our body wants the most (you can read more about this here). But to answer the question, yes, a food sensitivity can be healed. Let me explain. (more…)

You may be wondering what’s the big deal with Vitamin B12 “shots” (injections). Lots of people are talking about them these days – I certainly get asked about them frequently. What are they good for? Do they really give you more energy? Do they hurt? Can anyone get them?

Let’s face it, summertime is an easy time to forget about the great health habits we worked on the rest of the year. With more social gatherings, barbecue in the backyard, camping and warm weather, we tend to indulge a bit more. I’m not going to try to convince you otherwise, because life is meant to be enjoyed, beer, barbecue and all (in moderation when it doesn’t interfere with any health goals or treatments). But, I do want to encourage and motivate you to stay on track with your health this summer. After all, our liver, heart and intestines don’t take a break during the summer, so lets help them out by not overwhelming them with too much indulging!

Health is a lifestyle, not a crash diet or exercise plan, so lets have some fun and get into creating and maintaining some healthy habits this summer! Join me on Monday July 17th for a 10 day Health Habits Challenge! I’ll post a new healthy habit on Facebook to work on everyday that you can do for that day, for the whole 10 days and hopefully longer! Follow along, share with your friends and join in the healthy fun!

The rules of the game are simple:

  1. Take on the new challenge each day to the best of your ability
  2. Carry each new habit out until the end of the challenge
  3. Like, comment and/or share the challenge each day if you feel inclined to do so! Lets work together to build a healthier community!

The first challenge is to mark it down on your calendar to get started on Monday July 17th!

Make sure you Like my Facebook page so you don’t miss out on the challenge!

There are a few natural times in the year when we naturally tend to focus on our health, including September, January and April. These are new “beginnings” in a sense, and we want to start fresh. But when we think about it, there is no better time to focus on your health than NOW.

I love smoothies! I find them to be a great breakfast option, post-workout re-fuel or mid-morning snack! But not all smoothies are created equal – in order for a smoothie to be suitable for a meal or snack, it must meet certain requirements of components it should and shouldn’t contain.

There’s something about these ice fishing huts that brings up a feeling a nostalgia for me. I’ve never been in one, nor do I really care for smelts, but I love seeing them pop up every winter.

Food sensitivity testing is by far the most common lab test I run. It’s a simple blood test done through a finger prick, that will tell you what foods your immune system is reacting to. But is it worth it? And is it the right test for you?

What is Health?

by on January 23, 2017 | Posted in General Thoughts on Health

As a member of the health profession, I feel it is my duty to have a good answer to this question, especially since I promote the idea that “All You Need Is Health” through my work. However, there more I ask myself the question, the harder I find it is to come up with an answer. (more…)

If you’ve ever travelled to a country near the equator, you may have experienced what is commonly known as traveller’s diarrhea, or more eloquently, Montezuma’s Revenge! When you’re away for only 1 or 2 weeks, spending a few days at arms reach from the toilet is not what most of us call an ideal vacation. (more…)
